At one Ontario hospital, staffing shortages are so bad due to Omicron that kitchen staff have been called up to assist nurses. There are so many COVID patients that paramedics are helping in the emergency room.

Pssst...with cases of the Omicron variant being detected outside of Africa in places like the UK, Hong Kong, Belgium and Israel, maybe we should focus less on travel bans and more on ending the harsh global vaccine inequity which leads to variants like Omicron in the first place?
