@LaSocieteG A first sighting for me Yarrow broomrape whilst visiting Guernsey this week on holiday. I have been so impressed by the coastal wild flowers. Beautiful!
Holidaying in Guernsey I read there are only six species of bumblebee on this beautiful island is that right @pollinatorproj ? I saw this rather B. humilis or B. muscorum looking one! @StevenFalk1@iancbeavis@BumblebeeTrust Not great pics it wasn’t close!
@SueWrig40598308@BumblebeeTrust Thanks Sue. I also wonder if the females have been late emerging and the males haven’t survived long enough to mate with them! There’s certainly not been the frantic mating activity going on around the tubes even on sunny days!
Have others had a very poor success rate in their #MasonBee tubes this year? Masses of males emerged as usual but had very few females filling new tubes? The activity has completely died off. I fear the wet weather and poor sunshine is to blame! #Osmia @BumblebeeTrust
@jwood_t@BumblebeeTrust A fair amount of parasitized cells from last year here too. It’s the females that appear to have plummeted in numbers. Interesting thank you.
@StevenFalk1@iancbeavis Brilliant so close to home. In the garden next! I am sure the great work done by @NoningtonFarms and @kentdowns6 is helping with nature recovery in the area that I live in.
#SFI NUM3 option coming to life but it was destined for Winter Beans. Decided for a guaranteed return & risk free crop #SoilHealth Looking forward to the wheat crop #Harvest25 @NFFNUK Alive with pollinators @kentdowns6 @HimsworthM
