where only God deserves to be. God sacrifices himself for man, and puts himself where only man deserves to be. Man claims prerogatives which belong to God alone; God accepts penalties which belong to man alone.” - John Stott, “The Cross of Christ”
1/2 “The concept of substitution may be said, then, to lie at the heart of both sin and salvation. For the essence of sin is man substituting himself for God, while the essence of salvation is God substituting himself for man. Man asserts himself against God and puts himself
“I could never myself believe in God, if it were not for the cross. The only God I believe in is the One Nietzsche ridiculed as ‘God on the cross.’ In the real world of pain, how could one worship a God who was immune to it?” - John Stott, “The Cross of Christ”
Loving a quote and then bristling, maybe even disagreeing with it once it is revealed who said it, can be a great limitless test for our hearts. A good word is still good even when we don’t typically like or agree with those to whom it is credited.
@KSPrior Wow.❤️ It’s hard for me, just a follower, to believe a whole year has passed already. What have you found you have missed the most about your mom in addition to her very presence? Praying for peace and comfort and sweet memories of your time together.
“Is that it? Do we simply sit down, content and transformed, with the knowledge of this love? No - we are to spend the rest of our lives tasting, experiencing, and being shaped by that gracious love.” @timkellernyc

Real confrontation isn’t about attacking—it’s about turning toward the problem together. The real high road is facing the issue side by side. It’s not easy, but it’s the only way that leads to healing, growth, and a future you can both be proud of.
Avoidance may feel safer in the moment, but the courage to confront with love brings lasting change. What would happen if you faced the issue today instead of walking away from it?
"From a political perspective, cultural Christianity is when our theology is held captive by our politics rather than our politics being informed and even transformed by our theology." - @EugeneCho
