I cut part of my field today. Judging by the number of rodents that scattered, I probably killed 11 small mammals and traumatized dozens more.
Under the literal language of IP28, I'd have to wonder whether I just committed animal abuse. That's because IP28 removes Oregon's current exemption for reasonable pest control.
That's how absurd this initiative is.
IP28 is so extreme it could effectively ban hunting, fishing, and common animal husbandry by stripping away long-standing legal exemptions. It even puts ordinary pest control into legal jeopardy.
If the law makes mowing a field a crime, you've crossed the line from policy into parody.
I honestly don't think most people who signed this petition understood what they were signing.
