#Autistic people often need to be given #specific and #detailed information about a situation. This helps an autistic person to have more #confidence in a situation and be able to cope with it, rather than having #debilitating#anxiety or feeling like they can't even attempt it.
The weather might have been a bit disappointing so far this summer but rain or shine, join us for Summer Play at Toynbee Hall!
FREE play and picnic every Thursday throughout August PLUS Special events:
🗓️ Friday 18th August: Tie Dye, henna and rangoli with Colourful Community
🗓️ Saturday 9th September: Family fun day before @Oitijjo festival at @_TheWhitechapel, as part of #PeoplesHistoryofPetticoatLane - Heritage Action Zone programme @HistoricEngland.
All ages are welcome but children must be accompanied by an adult.

'Passive #masking' means the #autistic person avoids saying or doing anything that might draw #attention to themselves.
This type of masking can cause an autistic person to feel extremely #isolated. They might feel that nobody really knows them.

Executive dysfunction steals away from us the ability to control which tasks we start.
Tasks that we desperately want to do can be impossible to start, while tasks that we desperately don't want to do can be impossible to avoid
Did you know that kids with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) can feel anxious about meeting their own expectations?
They therefore tend to be perfectionistic and often redo tasks because the results weren't perfect the first time.
Autistic people may not always say yes to social invitations, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to receive them. Many of us can’t say yes to all (or even most) things due to sensory, energy, and executive function related challenges, yet like to have the option and be included.
