I lost my dad over 15 years ago. He was my favorite parent, and I was his favorite child of ten—last born right here. He was loved by other kids and we all fondly called him "Papa."
That was how my dad never returned.
The reality of what happened hadn’t dawned on me because there’s no way I’d have been washing clothes the next day if I had fully understood. Somewhere in my mind, I thought he was just at the hospital and would be back home soon.
