@KJWinEducation@BenisonMrs It’s a bit like the tobacco companies saying, “why blame us? We are just giving the consumers what they want.” Seems like those companies were still held liable; as should these publishing companies be.
I'm sad but sadly not surprised to hear this news about my home state-- where I attended grade school through graduate school. With the immense knowledge available about teaching students to read (much of it generated by Oregon researchers!) this is unconscionable.
These kinds of mass shootings rarely happen elsewhere in the world.
Why are we willing to live with this carnage? Why do we keep letting this happen? Where in God’s name is our backbone to have the courage to deal with it?
It’s time to turn this pain into action.
@ehanford@C_E_Winter I’m a school psychologist in NJ. I learned far more about how to assess and teach reading as the parent of a struggling reader than I learned in my certification course in college . In fact, everything I learned was outside of college walls. It’s shameful and sad.
@angrybklynmom The Common Core (CCSS) was an effort to raise educational standards in the US, to be more aligned with countries abroad. 45 states adopted it or similar.
The CCSS states assumed that higher standards would force districts to pick more rigorous curriculum.

@Etsy#etsy why is your customer service non-existent? Many accounts are hacked and people scammed yet no one can reach you as you have no phone support. Do better this Mother’s Day.
