@ktb38 Teaching at Ply Away and MDSW, as my classes got closer to the weekend, my students got younger. I really think there is a new resurgence of interest in crafting, but you only see it when you pay attention to venues that are catering to the needs of younger individuals.
@ktb38 MAFA is an association closely linked to spinning and weaving guilds, which I've always found skew to those on the older side of life. I remember wanting to join a guild, bemoaning the time at which they met, and being told it would work out when I was older.
@cefryber For thousands of years humans made socks without nylon! My nylon free socks hold up just as well if not better than ones that have nylon (plus less sensory issues).
@kariebookish Well tailored clothes can make any body look amazing. It's so much easier to sell crap fashion and then blame people for not looking good in it.
@HunterHammersen I have so many feelings about gift giving. All of the relatives ask for our wishlists, but none of them have wishlists. I put a ton of emotional labor into gifts and don't get feedback, because we just don't do gift opening around other people.
@blkgirllostkeys @blarglesauce Do It! After a lifetime of cavities and fillings and starting to have to replace fillings in my 30s as they cracked ( and got my first crowns), I started wearing a night guard and the degradation of my teeth stopped.
@judejharper@AGamerCrafting Don't get me started. There are reasons why the textile dyers used to be regulated to the outskirts of town and lived short lives.
If I was to pursue a new academic career, it would totally be focused on the documentation of technique in craft and how to reconstruct process from finished objects.
