The International Court of Arbitration has ruled in favour of Pakistan that the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) cannot be unilaterally suspended, terminated, or placed in abeyance. This is a big blow to India’s plan to suspend the IWT. Pakistan has always been a responsible member of the world community and has adhered to international treaties, whereas India has acted recklessly and irresponsibly by taking unilateral measures on the IWT

Indus Water Treaty (IWT) has provided a fair mechanism for the distribution of water between Pakistan and India for the last 66 years. The fate of 1.75 billion people depends on the #IWT. The IWT cannot be unilaterally held in abeyance as per international law. For the sake of the people of the subcontinent, the IWT must be fully honoured. #Pakistan will safeguard its water resources and protect its interests at all costs
