Are you a Gundam fan? Bandai Namco says 346,247 email addresses from "THE GUNDAM BASE MEMBERS" leaked.
Have you signed up for it?
Bandai Namco Entertainment and BANDAI SPIRITS announced it on October 27.
The company that sent emails for Bandai Namco ID was hacked.
・Leaked: email addresses and internal ID numbers
・Not included: passwords, card details, names, addresses, purchase history
・No misuse confirmed so far
Don't click links in emails claiming to be from Bandai Namco.
How did you land your first client as a freelancer?
I never pitched anyone. Mine came from someone I'd met exactly once, a year earlier.
A month before I quit my job at 29, he called: "I hear you're leaving. Want to help us out?"
My first job was a trial e-commerce site for about 300,000 yen, delivered in a month.
Then I noticed something. The company's tech lead was brilliant but hard to work with, and every outside developer before me had quit.
So I thought: if I can get along with him, all the work comes to me.
It did. Before long, he handed me almost all of their development.
Japan Airlines says booking details for about 92,000 people were accessed, including passport numbers for about 2,000.
Booked a JAL flight since August 2023?
JAL and Japan Transocean Air announced it on October 28.
The breach was at Amadeus, the Spanish company that runs JAL's booking system.
・About 90,000 people: booking number, name, date, route, class
・About 2,000 people: also contact info, passport number, nationality, mileage number and more
・Period: Aug 10, 2023 to Sep 23, 2026
JAL says no card numbers or passwords were included. Watch for emails or calls claiming to be JAL.
I built a service that signed 200 business clients in its first year. Then one day, I was pushed out of it.
I'd built the whole system. Why do you think it happened?
When we started, I still had a day job. So the business name, the bank account and the server contract were all in my partner's name.
A lawyer confirmed I owned the copyright to the software. I sent a formal letter, and the other side went quiet.
I could have sued for licensing fees. I didn't. Not worth the time.
My steady income of about 300,000 yen a month went to zero the next month. I was stunned for days.
It's not just Japan. Korea's crypto exchange Bithumb was hacked through an internal employee system.
Do you keep crypto on an exchange?
Bithumb disclosed it on October 28.
・Attackers got into its internal mobile groupware system
・Information on employees of Bithumb, its subsidiaries and partner firms was exposed
・Whether customer data was taken is still under investigation
・Bithumb says the system is separate from trading, and no crypto losses are reported
Korea's financial regulators held an emergency meeting the same day. Daishin Securities also reported 38,490 customer records leaked.
Is your credit card saved on a shopping site where you log in with just a password?
If that password leaks, a stranger can buy things with your card.
A post about turning on two-step login for Amazon just got over 1.1 million views in Japan.
On Amazon, it's under Your Account → Login & security → 2-Step Verification.
Once it's on, a new phone or computer trying to log in also needs a code sent to you.
Any site that stores your card is worth checking the same way. Some leave it off until you turn it on yourself.
