@Gonzo_Hunter @Kess_716 @Alex__Monaco I know most under thrown balls that get a PI are because of things that but most of the time the player doesn’t turn to the ball. Also imo the QB shouldn’t be rewarded for a bad throw. But Gabe it’s been a great discussion
@Gonzo_Hunter @Kess_716 @Alex__Monaco See that’s where incidental contact to me can be interpreted, Marcus Jones did not intentionally run into shakir to impede his ability to catch and then make a play on the ball. Contact is created and then a play is made
@Gonzo_Hunter @Kess_716 @Alex__Monaco But my point is he turns and plays the ball that’s where it shouldn’t be pass interference in my mind. He literally caught the ball
@Gonzo_Hunter @Kess_716 @Alex__Monaco It’s impossible to always be looking at the ball and the receiver, as soon as the receiver comes back to the ball(at initial contact) the DB turns his head makes a play on the ball. In my eyes that shouldn’t be PI
@Gonzo_Hunter @Kess_716 @Alex__Monaco Eligible offensive and defensive receivers both have the same right to the ball and are subject to the same restrictions. No where does it say in the rules the head has to be turned to the ball before contact. It also states incidental contact is not interference.
@coywirefanacct @Kess_716 @Alex__Monaco My judgement is that he played the ball, by looking back and then catching the ball. Clearly it wasn’t interpreted that way by the officials
@coywirefanacct @Kess_716 @Alex__Monaco Article 3(a) “Incidental contact by an opponent’s hands, arms, or body when both players are competing for the ball, or neither player is looking for the ball. If there is any question whether contact is incidental, the ruling shall be no interference.”
@coywirefanacct @Kess_716 @Alex__Monaco But the offensive player initiates the contact by stopping his run, an offensive player can’t just run into a DB and get PI every time. Sometimes they get it because the defensive player doesn’t have time to turn to the ball but that wasn’t the case here
@coywirefanacct @Kess_716 @Alex__Monaco He turns his head, sees the ball, and catches it. Gotta be in control to do that. Also not out of position, the ball was under thrown and the receiver came back through him.
