We have GREAT educators at AHS. . . Dr. Kristen Rex writes, "Have I mentioned lately I love working with this team? Teamwork makes the dreams work. We are in Alpine, Tucson, Tempe collaborating, writing grant to recruit rural teachers in NHD project based learning for students."
3rd grade postcard contest winner Noah Jackson celebrates with parents & teacher. 15 students were selected from over 1,000 entries around AZ. Congrats Noah!! Students created a postcard showing knowledge of AZ (5 Cโs, 22 tribes, History, Geography from prehistoric times to now)
Jaelynn TigerLily Harris gives a thumbs up on her special day. Her artwork was chosen from over 1,000 third grade entries around the state. Only 15 students received this honor for their outstanding creativity and thoughtful designs celebrating Arizona's history and the 5 C's.
Taegan Marie Brennan's huge smile says it all. One of 15 winning students out of 1,000 3rd graders for AHS postcard contest. Dr. Kristen Rex traveled the state to host the celebrations of pizza party for the class, student recognition, teddy bears and lots of swag!!
Julia Taggart is in the Scottsdale and Phoenix Republic! All her work on Wallace & Ladmo team has come to fruition.
Historical League recognized the team's contributions and honored them as 1992 Arizona Historymakers. Good to see their story continues to be told.
Lilith Geddis, 3rd grader at Leonor Hambly K-8, was one of 15 winners (out of over 1,000) of the AHS Postcard Contest. Not only did her class celebrate with her at the pizza party with swag, parents, principal, teacher, but the ENTIRE school had an assembly!
It is with great sadness we share Historical League member Delores Tomasek passed away May 27, 2026. Delores joined the League in 1993, was President 2003-2004, Historymakers co-chair 2008, and also co-chaired Children's Holiday Party. May her memory be a blessing to all.

As part of Memorial Day Celebration, a noteworthy exhibit at Heard Museum was presented by National History Day AZ students from White Mountain Apache, showcasing research from Dishchiiโbikoh Community School in Cibecue, AZ. Historical League is very supportive of these students.
