Nigel Lawson was one of the UK's longest-serving chancellors, presiding over the economic boom of the 1980s that came to define the Thatcher government

Every teacher and member of support staff who works in a school knows this is a blatant lie. Increasingly, parents and carers know it too. It's a desperate effort, and one that leaves the DfE with even less credibility than it had before.
@educationgovuk Why would you work in the only section of government that deals with education…and have no honest intention of working to improve any aspect of education.
@strandedatsea@jc_maximus@JEyal_RUSI@ElectionMapsUK@robfordmancs Absolutely, that trend is the result of decades of pleasing the older demographics over the needs of younger people. But, it will be at least another decade longer before that translates to a meaningful shift at election under FPTP.
@strandedatsea@jc_maximus@JEyal_RUSI@ElectionMapsUK@robfordmancs As for younger people being political engaged, that is true. But the reality is that the older demographics in the UK *consistently* turn out to vote at a much higher level than young voters. That one isn’t up for debate!
@knowledge_witch And embed skills in a meaningful way beyond the exam questions. And to engage students in deeper consideration of history as a discipline, uses and abuses of history etc. Such a waste!
@RDowse_PE @BarklamMr Anyone arguing that the current GCSE doesn’t need some degree of reduction in terms of content needs to give his/her head a wobble. Too much stuff, nowhere near enough time to dedicate to skills of the subject.
@RogersHistory A clear rule on no toilet breaks during lesson time and provision (e.g. toilet cards) for those with a valid reason avoids so much unnecessary hassle and disruption. Teachers are generally aware enough to see when a student is genuinely in discomfort and an exception is needed
@englishspecial Well, it would be an idea to stop gaslighting the profession by repeatedly them that their conditions and pay are, in fact, absolutely fine.
