During the #Gretzky - #Messier era in #Edmonton, it was a very big deal to beat the #Oilers. Listen to the excitement of #Blackhawksβ TV voice Pat Foley on Feb. 1, 1987 as the home team - at old #Chicago Stadium - cemented a four-goal comeback in the third period. #NHL #StanleyCup #Leafs
@xgoblindad@PuckinHostile The early 2000s were bad, but this just seems worse somehow. Even with a Bedard, you go into a game thinking they can't win. They need some serious hockey people running things....
@WallysHaircomb@BrodrechtG1685 I lived in Windsor for a year; saw a handful of Whalers games and got a few pictures, but never the Hawks. I'll post/repost some.

Young men have been deprived of the rite of passage that traditional marriage provided.
You meet a young lady, you're attracted to her, then face the reality that you only get her if you marry her.
And marrying her required a direct conversation with her father - a man who provided for her, guided her, and protected her for decades.
He shakes your hand - testing your grip, looking you in the eye for confidence or weakness.
He asks you about your plans for the future to test your vision, your goals.
He takes you out hunting or works you in the fields to test your physical prowess.
If you pass the tests, the man who has already proven himself walks his daughter down the aisle and hands responsibility for her over to you.
Sounds tough? It's supposed to be.
And when you pass the test, you get his support. He wants you to succeed. His approval should be your encouragement in dark moments. A man older and better than you believes in you and trusts you with his baby girl, one of his most prized things.
An unambiguous case of consensual sex.Β The aftermath of the Cornell group sex episode is a peerless example of the hypocrisy of the feminist movement, which proclaims the oppressiveness of any remaining traces the chivalric code.
Females deliberately drink themselves blotto in order to lower their sexual inhibitions, voluntarily participate in sex, and then, after the regrets set in, deny their agency and put exclusive responsibility for their drunken encounter on their male partner, on the grounds that they are helpless to take care of themselves.

Usually the best response to people like this is to ignore them. But my father, Shelby Steele, who grew up under segregation in Chicago, and I have dealt with this behavior for decades, and this video gives you an eye-opening example of what it's been like.
This woman is furious that a community group in the leafy northΒ suburbs of Chicago, New Trier Neighbors (@NTNeighbors), is screening my new documentary, "White Guilt," at New Trier High School on November 5.
In the video, she blastsΒ @NTNeighborsΒ for hosting Charlie Kirk (they actually did not but probably wish they could have) and calls Kirk one of "those disgusting white boys, racist, misogynistic white boys," and smiles as she recounts how she found out he was shot. She then attacks me, my racial identity, and falsely accuses me of platforming Nick Fuentes. She calls my film a "stupid movie that is full of Islamophobia" and "a continuation of the great replacement theory." Then she says she feels "really bad for the workers of color who have to clean up that vile auditorium" after we leave. The kicker is the end of the video when she claims that reading Ibram X. Kendi gave her wisdom and authority.
She hasn't seen the film. But truth is not her objective here. Her only desire is to brand me and the film as racist so her neighbors fall in line. She is already trying to drum up support for protestsΒ to intimidate people. That's white guilt intimidation at work. We owe nobody an explanation. The film will be shown as is and we invite all, including this woman, to see the film for themselves.

Itβs funny in a slightly grim way to see people rediscovering that the traditional precepts of the natural law are not at all arbitrary moral commands imposed from without, but rational and wise precepts for the conduct of human life, whose violation usually produces disaster in some form.
