@SemFek @Stephen25367746 It fell victim to earthquakes and time. Also, after the river silted up the harbour, it lost it’s strategic access to the Aegean sea and was eventually abandoned.

@Verdiwagnerite I visited three weeks ago and it was spectacular. Also visited some of the other sites, Troy and Pergamon amongst them. I still have a lot of pics to share and will be adding them as soon as I can. Turkey is a wonderful country.
