Exactly - it is the price level that matters. Statements like “inflation is over”, don’t make sense to most, when butter is up x%. A side benefit will be the utter irrelevance of trying to determine the appropriate lags, weights and stuff when evaluating inflation news. 😀

I think framing make up policy in terms of the price level is precisely what is needed. People are upset that a burger costs more than it used to. A price level target commits to getting that burger price back where it was. Everyone can understand this.

@BirtheLarsenCph Det er bizart. Men interessant i forhold til valget. Harris’ fokus på abortspørgsmålet har måske ikke været så interessant for vælgerne i svingstaterne: de fleste har adgang til abort.

@dieworkwear An often overlooked aspect is that a suit feels so good to wear. No matter the color, the style it signals, etc., a suit is like a continous hug, and definitely not some horrid mandate made to punish.

@Noahpinion Is there anything Elmo won’t choose to be an expert on? Whatever this is, an equation should be available when things are so obvious. How are deficits and debt defined? Will lower spending just go hand in hand with lower taxation? Etc.,etc. Give us a simple model, not this blah.
