@_Nxckname @THELadyDane Granted, modern transgender identity didn't exist during the colonization of the US, but the criminalization of gender nonconformity and sexual deviance which continues to negatively impact the material conditions of trans folks is rooted that colonization.
hi everyone - a government that denies its prisoners the right to vote is a government that now has an extremely vested interest in jailing its political opposition
thank you to coming to this, the literal first class of Civics 101
@_Nxckname @THELadyDane Asserting one's dominance over nations and cultures require rigid rules and violent punishments. That history is trans history. That history surveils, controls, kills trans and gnc bodies. It's never just transphobia.
@_Nxckname @THELadyDane These colonial legacies also impact white trans people. For the laws and practices enacted in the colonizing of the US (for example), target gender nonconformity and sexual deviance in all inhabitants....

Whether or not the burden is intended, it's a tremendous constraint on decolonization.
That feeling of Notre Dame burning down is the same feeling Natives feel since 1492. That is 526 years; 365 days a year, 24/7.

The people that criticize "safe spaces" often say college is where people learn to be challenged by difficult ideas. Okay. Great! Which traditional college class teaches you how to deal with the emotional and psychological assaults of patriarchy and white supremacy? /1
Capitalism began in England around the 16th century. They immediately went on to colonize half the planet in search of new markets, committed multiple genocides, traded slaves, and engaged in constant war.
In school we learn about how communism is evil because of a famine.
