Today we wired the left and right hemisphere of the brain by making a book about ways that we can be safe and helpful. This child took the book home and will read it each day to remind her of how she can help her family. #iHeartCD#thebrainstoolbox
On the 5th day of @ConsciousD we had breakout sessions. I presented on Creating The School Family and Family Engagement. I learned so much from the CD family and I’m thankful for every presenter and participant! #CD1Liberty#ShowMeCD
On the 4th day of @ConsciousD we learned that noticing bring the unconscious to the conscious and helps wire the brain! Describe, name, acknowledge. So thankful to be at #CD1Liberty#ShowMeCD
On the 3rd day of @ConsciousD we learned that we have to regulate ourselves before help regulate the child. We practiced wiring the brain bottom to top and left to right. AND we had so much fun and made new friends! #CD1Liberty#ShowMeCD#iHeartCD
Day 2 of #CD1Liberty we learned about brain states and why it’s so important to regulate ourselves before we try to help a child regulate. More connections were made and fun was had! Bring it on day 3! #ShoMeCD
I always love the @ConsciousD summer institute, and the first night didn’t disappoint! I’m excited to learn, meet new people, and fill my bucket while I’m here. #ShoMeCD
Today I played Chutes and Ladders with a kid. Did you know that the ladders have helpful behaviors and the chutes have hurtful behaviors? It was a fun way to connect and discuss ways to be helpful! (PS: it helps build executive functioning skills too!) #iheartcd#thebrainstoolbox
I’m stepping more and more into a role of coaching parents. In April, I helped a friend with a visual for co-parenting. This visual helped her children feel safe and they were better able to learn the new routine. #iheartcd#thebrainstoolbox
It’s been a fun and busy day presenting at #CD1Baltimore! So glad to learn from @VickyHepler and to be able to share that knowledge with others! Now it’s time to rest and connect with others who are excited to change the world.#iHeartCD
Learning how to DNA in order to zip up the brain, Maryland crab breaths, YMCA, and pencil stretches to make connections! What an amazing day at #CD1Baltimore
Brain states, and dancing, and breathing. Oh my! We can’t expect kids to be in a higher brain state than we are in! Thankful to be at #CD1Baltimore this week! We’re learning how to shift our perspective so we can make a change. #iHeartCD
We came from all over to make high five, whoopie, and soul friends for life, and we’re uniting over our passion for finding a better way to change the world. And that’s just opening night. I can’t wait to see what #CD1Baltimore has in store for us the rest of the week.#iheartcd
“I will remember the wish well board. It has ❤️s on it. I like red and I like ❤️s. It helped me feel safe. I know I’m loved when I’m not at school. It reminded me of you. I will remember that my teachers loved me because we did funny things.” #iheartCd#prek4al#IwillRemember
He had trouble falling asleep because he was worried about his mom today. We put her in our heart and wished her well. He smiled really big, took a deep breath, and fell asleep within a couple of minutes. Wishing well is so powerful! #iheartcd#prek4al
Some days are really hard and there are 3 meltdowns before breakfast. BUT with a connected class family, we help each other breathe and calm and regulate. We had just helped one, and she helped another. What you offer others you strengthen in yourself. #iheartcd#PREK4al
We read Bartholomew and the Ooblek this week. In collaborative group, they worked together using all kinds of skills to make a castles. Today #MrsStephsScientists made oobleck for an experiment and we saw which castle could hold it. #prek4al#MCEStigers
