For this week's column I reviewed a gorgeous John Singer Sargent show @worcestermuseum. It explores his pivotal (but less examined) years - moving beyond commissioned portraits, he painted freely in the Cotswolds' air

If I could choose one artist to paint my portrait, it would be John Singer Sargent, BOTD 1856. I'm really looking forward to seeing a new exhibition of his work, which opens on Sat @worcestermuseum

John Singer Sargent was born #OnThisDay in 1856 🎈
He worked on one of his most famous works for a few minutes each evening when the light was right. He started it in 1885 and continued in summer 1886.
