My neighbor knocked on my door at 11pm once.

Her power went out. She said she just needed to charge her phone for a few minutes.

I let her in. Made tea. We talked until almost 1am.

Two weeks later she came again.
Different problem. Same door. Same welcome.

I never made her feel like she was disturbing me.

Months later my car broke down three streets away. I called her.

The moment she picked up, I could already hear irritation in her voice.

She said she was tired. Then asked, can’t you call someone else? I said okay and hung up.

But I just stood there beside my car holding my phone for a few seconds.

Not angry. Not even hurt. Just confused. Because I started thinking about all the late-night knocks I had answered without hesitation.

Not because I expected repayment. But because I genuinely believed that was how we treated each other. Turns out it was just how I treated her.

That’s the dangerous thing about one sided kindness.

While you’re giving, it never feels one sided. It feels like love, like loyalty, like being a good person.

The realization only comes later. Usually in the exact moment you finally needed them back.

A school teacher in Kebbi State has been suspended for three months without pay after he publicly complained about the relief rice distributed to him by the state government.

According to reports, the teacher raised concerns in the media over the quality or nature of the rice given as part of a government support program. Following his comments, the Kebbi State government suspended him for three months without salary.

Authorities, however, reportedly justified the suspension by citing “negligence” in the performance of his duties as the official reason for the disciplinary action.

It is important to note that the governor was a union leader.

Fellow Nigerians, the integrity of our democracy is at stake! Prof. Amupitan's past statements acknowledging alleged "Christian genocide" and persecution raise serious questions about his impartiality as INEC Chairman. In a nation as diverse as ours, the head of our electoral body must be neutral and free from any perceived bias that could divide us along religious lines.

The Supreme Council for Shari'ah in Nigeria (SCSN) has rightly highlighted this as a threat to fair elections and national stability. We cannot afford to have election results rejected by millions due to distrust in the leadership. Ahead of 2027, this is an emergency!

I urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Assembly to act swiftly: Remove Prof. Amupitan NOW and appoint a truly apolitical figure to restore faith in INEC.
