this popular Malawian musician that I dated briefly a little over a year ago recently got engaged & a lot of his followers r commenting on his engagement photos saying it looks like he’s w/his “auntie” & “kuduntu”but it’s really his fiancée & I’m trying not to laugh, koma...kkkkk

and another bout of food poisoning the next day because I ate the plantains that were sitting in the dirt after they were cut lol

today, May 21, 2019 is the first free election in Malawi since 2014. tikhale na mwavi mwahuno. hoping for some positive results for the warm heart of Africa #fingerscrossed
really reminds me of how things go in Malawi sometimes... i.e. all of us from all different corners of the world sitting and socializing at our favorite hostel/second home in Mzuzu, and collectively sighing when the power cuts out. and then we just sit in the dark together lol
idk exactly when the film ‘whiskey tango foxtrot’ (w/Tina Fey) came out, but this is my first time watching it and I’m laughing because the expat lifestyle they depict in the movie is really on point
so sometimes what teens and kids do is fill in the huge holes in the road with dirt to make it better. but they won’t let you pass until you pay them and will literally block the road w/ actual tree trunks and twigs from the spike trees that can pop tires #evilgeniuses
it’s really difficult to get to my village because it’s in an extremely rural area and there isn’t a tarmac road to get there. when you reach the end of the tarmac, you have to drive an additional hour on a horrible dirt road to get home.
