The mining industry is facing an interesting challenge.
Every year, more skilled professionals enter the market. We have qualified engineers, geologists, safety practitioners, artisans, supervisors, and graduates eager to contribute to the industry. Yet, while the talent pool continues to grow, operational opportunities are not increasing at the same pace.
In today's mining environment, technical competence alone is often not enough. Building meaningful professional relationships has become just as important as building technical expertise.
Networking creates opportunities that may never appear on a job board. It connects professionals to mentors, potential employers, business partners, industry leaders, and peers who can share knowledge, insights, and opportunities.
This is one of the reasons why the 4th Annual Mining Professionals Luncheon exists.
Under the theme "Digging Deeper Together", the event brings together mining professionals from different disciplines and levels of experience to engage, learn, collaborate, and build valuable industry connections.
Whether you are a student, graduate, entrepreneur, supervisor, engineer, manager, or executive, the relationships you build today could open doors tomorrow.
In an industry where opportunities are becoming increasingly competitive, your network can be one of your greatest assets.

Bafana defended like lions. Issue is that Broos decided that the best way for us to attack was to let our defenders draw the press and then play it long into the resulting gaps. He didnโt trust the players to do it with possession-based build up play. Why was our most creative player, Mofokeng, subbed off at half time?
That was when it was obvious Broos had gone back to being scared. Heโs done a lot for SA football, and he deserves the credit for getting us into the knockouts for the first time ever, but we need someone braver in charge if we want to move forward and get better. These players want to play, have faith in them and let them do so.
That Rele sub was a sign of a scared man.
The same scared mentality he started the tournament with.
He responds with a defensive mentality and after there is a bit of stability in midfield out of possession, he doesn't make attacking changes to take advantage of the shift in momentum.
โ Fine, you want to win the physical battle, you gain some advantage and frustrate Canada in midfield, but what is your plan in possession?
โ It was clear that we lacked team chemistry and individual quality when we attacked, you could see Mokoena is tired but he is a fighter so he keeps running. He has fresh legs in Adams on the bench, but he is hoping to drag this to the penalties so no reaction. The goal came with Mokoena pretending to run because he was exhausted.
He is not a confident coach when it comes to attacking football, that's why Appollis stayed in the field as long as he did with no quality worth watching. Same as Maseko who was just off, and making a lot of bad decisions on the ball. I'm glad we will be moving forward with someone else, hopefully SAFA gives us a brave coach who really believe in our players.
And that is how it ends in Los Angeles, Canada winning 1-0 to signal the end of the road for Bafana Bafana in the 2026 FIFA World Cup

Hard luck Bafana Bafana!๐ฟ๐ฆ
A slow start to the tournament, but you showed up with a lot of resilience and character to the knockout stage๐๐พ
A lot of positives to take home. We will come back better, because we are capable of more.๐ฟ๐ฆ
Bafana kaofela๐ฟ๐ฆ
Bafana Bafana is having more possession than Canada but we are not controlling the game.
We rotate the ball too much at the back, when we move forward it's often long balls that are inaccurate.
We have a poor final ball, poor final 3rd entry, we are still not getting any quality from Appollis in attack, this limits our ability to combine and create problems from different areas in attack. It even limits the options for the midfielders to progress because we are not finding good attacking options.
Mbokazi is the only player able to find a good long pass. We had some better moments earlier but we need to step up in midfield, move possession into the final 3rd. Yaya and Mokoena need to push possession higher.
Mofokeng needs to also adapt to what the game needs as the attacking pivot, try drop a bit deep when necessary to have more feel of the ball, rotate possession and force those combinations. Not every pass must be forward, we need him to pick the right moments as a 10. Makgopa is not getting any supply
For the country, for family & for everyone at home ๐ฟ๐ฆ. As we count down the final 3 hours to kickoff, Bafana Bafana stands ready in LA. Tonight, we don't just play for a win; we play with the pride of a nation behind us. We wear the green and gold for every single South African. โฝ๏ธ๐ฅ
