@MattWalshBlog What is the proposed solution to this problem?
We’re a family of 10 and manage but have to be creative. I don’t want to be guilty of spreading “doomerism.” Keep growing your families. People 100 yrs ago would laugh at the thought of forfeiting your legacy with all we have now.
@benshapiro We’re a family of 10 and feeding our family well is doable, but requires creativity. I think we can acknowledge both a) food is expensive b) we don’t need to claim victimhood & CAN nourish our families well, continue to procreate, etc. Appreciated your show today.
@MattWalshBlog We’re a family of 10 and it’s doable. But at that point you’re basically eating potatoes and a cheap protein. I think we can acknowledge both a) food is expensive & that’s a problem b) we don’t need to claim victimhood & CAN nourish our families well, continue to procreate, etc.
@MattWalshBlog Peter Kreeft when asked about how to find happiness:
“Forget about happiness. There are more important things: goodness, truth, and beauty. Forget about happiness and you’ll get it. Worry about happiness and you’ll become a spiritual hypochondriac – you’ll lose it.“
@MattWalshBlog Watched your video on Shackleton (though I’ve already read Endurance) to remind myself how weak and spoiled I am and to get over the fact that I’m tired from a vacation.
@Pat_Stedman 20 years, 8 kids. I think one of the keys is that we don’t keep score. We communicate if we’re tired or need help instead becoming bitter. We try to help and appreciate each other. We take turns “sacrificing” so the other can have a night out or something. We’re a good team.
@KeturahAbigail@BurgerchanIntl But then you have the busybodies. My friend had a neighbor call the cops because her son took his shirt off in his yard while running around in 50 degree weather and the neighbor was “concerned.”
@yotoyosoyo@Cernovich It has taken away “reasonable risk.” Children used to be running entire farms & businesses from a young age. We are now told to let “kids be kids” & not give them too much responsibility & then wonder why they aren’t ready to “adult.”
@ZubyMusic The reason people have a rosy view is precisely bc there was no internet. The internet would have stolen all that was good about it. Life felt different before we were all connected online, especially before the smartphone. We felt more connected back then, actually.
@energee1uk@ZubyMusic Culture has changed. With marriage came babies. It was understood, not optional. You made a way. Now with BC & “family planning” it is only if they feel ready. You can argue whether or not that’s progress. The ideas we have around family and children have radically changed.
@Cernovich Hard to know if there’s more to the story. Is she working and he won’t? Is she feeling bitter because he is asking her to work & then when she gets off of her work calls she sees the house and kids are a disaster and he expects her to do that as well & she’s exhausted?
