Season 2 nearly killed the game, Season 3 has a lot of work to do

I can’t lie, I’m starting to get a bit sick of Marathon S2 already. It feels like a continuation of S1 and not a total refresh that we needed to keep the game healthy. It feels like Bungie were scared of slow progression to keep people engaged with this season. The enjoyment of progressing has been underwhelming.

There’s definitely some positives with S2, such as Sentinel, Night Marsh, the Cradle, but I dislike the PVE Sponsored Kits mode, and how it’s become a vital way for people to abuse looting and progression.

There’s a few other thoughts which I will leave for another tweet.

Here’s another tweet/opinion. Cryo Archive coming back this early on in Season 2 was a bad sign, and for there to be so many issues in Cryo already and to be this apparent leaves a sour taste. At first, I was disappointed to be away this weekend, away from playing Cryo, but now I’m actually thankful.

It feels like Bungie needs to get their shit together if Marathon is to have any level of success this season.

I don’t completely agree with either side from what I have gathered. I agree that Sentinel not having a Cryo skin available is extremely cringe. The fact that they haven’t updated Cryo in any sense is also a bit disappointing. Also, it doesn’t seem to be any new prestige mods for any of the Season 1 weapons. Not a must, but a missed opportunity.

In the first week of Season 2, the positive changes were clear and had given the game some good perception. But now, the cracks are showing, and Bungie needs to act fast.
