They say curiosity killed the cat but explain this one to me
If the covid shots were given away for free because they’re life saving
Then why isn’t chemotherapy, insulin, and EpiPens?
We are incredibly saddened to share that our friend and favorite Friday guest, Matt Vrzal, has passed.
His passion and love for the game of football was unmatched. There wasn’t a person that crossed his path that didn’t leave with a smile. Matt was unapologetically himself, always quick with a joke, always around to lend a hand when anyone needed anything at all. Matt had a profound impact on many, many people.
Vrz will be very missed. Nebraska is a little less red today.
IRS: you owe us taxes
Me: how much do I owe?
IRS: you get to figure that out
Me: can I just pay what I want?
IRS: no we know exactly how much you owe but you have to figure it out
Me: what if I’m wrong?
IRS: jail
Happy tax day!
Had to take my 3 yr old son to the ER last week.
Fear was appendicitis but after 45 min of moaning he burped for 5 seconds & was fine🤦♂️so we asked to leave.
The bill? $4,179 😵💫 WHAT?!
I called the hospital billing dept. You won't believe how this ends.
Here's the breakdown:
$2,215 - "The visit"
$740 - 2 min visit with the doc
$1,224 - "Standard" nurse's swab of my son's throat & nostrils for covid/strep test
$0.07 - Tylenol (how generous)
I proceed to tell them (politely) that the same "tests" are $50 at a pharmacy down the road & they weren't even related to my son's symptoms. There must be a mistake.
Nope.
I tell her we're technically "cash pay" (we are members of a healthcare sharing org), and ask if there is a cash-pay discount.
She says, "Yes. Let me calculate it for you."
Cash pay price: $685 TOTAL
Of course, I'm relieved personally, but I can't help but think...
THIS is why millions are paying insane amounts in insurance premiums every month.
ERs/hospitals are out of control.
Can someone make this make sense?
My kid wanted to know what we did on sick days when we were kids so I played an old episode of The Price Is Right and followed it up with an old episode of The Young and the Restless.
Today marks a tough day. Two years ago I suddenly lost my mother to a blood clot.
Acknowledging the pain is always hard to face. It’s like an internal war that has no outcome other than hitting dead ends of “what if’s” and wishing you had the Click remote to go back in time.
It doesn’t ever go away, and if I really think about it, I don’t ever want it to because this human being meant that much to me.
Perspective is usually a great thing, but, in this instance of having a loved one gone, it also fucking sucks.
People die. It just is what it is.
We all go one day, and if we’re lucky, we will leave a mark on someone the way my mom left one on me.
Someone who loved intentionally. Someone who showed up. Someone who taught the value of a dollar and hardwork.
My mom was a leader.. and someone I aspire to be like.
Recapping this sucks and it brings up that pain. But as angry as I get about her being taken from us I have to quickly grab and remind myself that she didn’t work and raise us the way she did so that we could fold when life gets hard. Or go into a cave and sulk forever.
The next day comes whether we want it to or not and it’s up us to put to practice what we were taught.
It’s later than we all think.
And there’s a finite amount of time to live with intention, pour into the family that we have, and fondly remember the impact those people made for us to carry on.
Tell your people that you love them because you never know when the last time will be.
And also - call your mom.
