PLEASE. Or maybe just like remove my ears so they don't hurt anymore. π In fairness, I think I'm the last one down in our house and almost positive it's a 2Β° sinus infection at this point. But let's be honest, they'll be commiserating with me again sooner than later! π
Hello. Young kids back in school are so sick right now. Everyone with a preschooler has an entire household of sleepless viral cough snot fevers for the past two months without a fucking break. So if you know a parent going through this, be kind and gently hit them with your car.
@box886 I don't, I'm sorry. The most I've seen/ heard about Vanderbilt Beach was that the DaRuMa that recently closed (see pin on map) was under about 6-8 feet of water yesterday afternoon. But I have no idea how the rest of the stretch made out.
I made this today for coworkers to explain why I was so distracted. So far friends and family are safe, albeit without power. We had no power after Charley for almost a week, and it was exhausting. And we were so lucky. And this one is so much bigger. Wishing safety to all. β€οΈ
"And FYI even pre-covid you weren't supposed to send your children to school w/ fevers." πππ This! People act like it's such a new and unprecedented imposition to not send your kids or selves out while you're actively spewing germs. This isn't new, folks! It's common courtesy.
Can't think of a better day to get out there and do something to at least *try* to fill the world with a little more love. No experience required, just a willingness to learn and champion the rights of our LGBTQ+ friends and family. β€οΈππ³οΈβπ
Oops! Dates fixed. NOW Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more details!!! β€οΈππ³οΈβπ Masks and proof of vaccination required. #JoinUs#CheerDC#CharitableCheerleading#PCARocks
Data scientists answering someone else's surveys:
β’ I would have enumerated it differently.
β’ Eek! That's gonna suck to unify.
β’ It's 2022. Can you really not be more comprehensive than "Are you male or female?" [Okay maybe not a pure data scientist perspective but come on.]
@Bob_Wachter Would love to hear your take on lunch in schools/daycares. Our kids still mask, lucky to live in a supportive area. But we didn't let them have lunch in school last year because it seemed inconsistent and we could sign them out to avoid the exposure. Probably can't keep that up.
If caregivers are wearing masks, does that harm kidsβ language development? No. There is no evidence of this. And we know even visually impaired children develop speech and language at the same rate as their peers.
OF COURSE I wish I weren't in that right category since I still owe π°π° but this is equity in action! I know what it means that I am now in that category-how I barely think about my payments in contrast to the misery + fear they inspired a just over a year ago on a stipend ππ
President Bidenβs student debt plan will provide relief to up to 43 million borrowers earning less than $125,000 a year. Nearly 90% of the benefit of this action will go to borrowers earning less than $75,000 a year.
Iβm wondering if people would send their kids to school with a mask if another child in the class was recovering from chemo. Or would you tell the other childβs parents to have their kid one-way mask?
Breaking News: U.S. health officials plan to stretch out the monkeypox vaccine supply by allowing an injection method that uses one-fifth as much per shot. https://t.co/WrcMpydVvv
Public health policies should be rooted in accessibility, not in (often inaccurately) perceived personal risk calculations. I had high-risk family I could afford to keep home. That's not the norm. Those are the folks we need to assess and protect as we keep navigating this mess.
After laboring in a mask in the early days of COVID-19, I've nursed this kid AT LEAST 3x/day for the last 27 months, the last 12 of which I've sustained (and succeeded at) a full-time job in science with the unwavering support of my supervisors, colleagues, and life partner.
I've loved every minute of this booger being on top of me, and I'm also happy to watch him spread his wings now that he's fully vaxxed. But I mourn for those who were never going to have anything close to my options and have had to make even harder decisions throughout.
