The meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Dutch Parliament on 6th of July must not be turned into an one-man show and propaganda platform for Reza Pahlavi.

For years, Pahlavi has evaded serious questions about the past, his political program, and threats against the Iranian opposition. Dutch parliamentarians and journalists must confront him publicly with these questions:

1. Does he condemn the threats by monarchists and the bomb threat against the opposition gathering in Paris?

2. Will he call on his supporters to immediately stop threats, intimidation, doxxing, and attacks against critics?

3. Does he condemn the display of SAVAK symbols by his supporters?

4. Is he willing to apologize to the victims of SAVAK and to the families of prisoners who were tortured and executed under the Shah?

5. Is he still proud of “everything” the Shah’s regime did, including torture, executions, and the suppression of opponents?

6. Where does his political legitimacy come from: the vote of the Iranian people, organized support inside Iran, or foreign and media support?

7. Does he still support a foreign military attack on Iran?

8. Why does his transition plan concentrate power in the hands of one person?

Anyone who claims to be a democrat must be accountable to democratic questions. The Dutch Parliament must not give a special platform to someone who is unwilling to answer clearly, publicly, and without evasion about his past and his plans for the future.

Nach Informationen, die in den sozialen Medien monarchistischer Aktivisten verbreitet wurden, soll am Mittwoch, den 10.Juni 2026 eine Protestaktion vor dem #WDR in Köln stattfinden. Anlass ist offenbar die kritische Berichterstattung des Fernsehmagazins „Kontraste“ über monarchistische und pro-Pahlavi-nahe Netzwerke.
Die Reportage von @ARDKontraste stützte sich auf dokumentierte Ereignisse, öffentlich zugängliche Informationen und umfangreiche Recherchen. Vergleichbare Entwicklungen wurden bereits in den vergangenen Jahren von Medien und Journalisten in mehreren europäischen Ländern thematisiert. Entsprechend groß war das Interesse vieler Iranerinnen und Iraner in Deutschland und anderen europäischen Staaten. Zahlreiche Zuschauer begrüßten, dass die zunehmend antidemokratischen und autoritären Tendenzen innerhalb monarchistischer Kreise endlich journalistisch beleuchtet und öffentlich diskutiert wurden.
Besonders scharf kritisiert wird innerhalb der iranischen Diaspora die Verwendung von Symbolen, Parolen und Inszenierungen, die mit dem berüchtigten SAVAK-Apparat des Schah-Regimes in Verbindung gebracht werden. Für viele Iraner steht #SAVAK bis heute für politische Verfolgung, Folter, Unterdrückung und staatlichen Terror. Entsprechende öffentliche Auftritte werden daher von zahlreichen Betroffenen, die auch nach fast fünf Jahrzehnten noch die körperlichen und seelischen Folgen dieser Repressionen tragen, als bewusste Provokation und Einschüchterung empfunden.
Darüber hinaus gibt es seit Jahren wiederkehrende Berichte, Videoaufnahmen und Aussagen von Teilnehmern politischer Veranstaltungen, wonach Anhänger Pahlavis Demonstrationen und Versammlungen anderer iranischer Gruppen durch Beschimpfungen, Drohungen und körperliche Übergriffe gestört hätten. Besonders alarmierend sind Berichte von Geschäftsinhabern, die nach eigenen Angaben unter politischen Druck gesetzt worden seien. Ziel sei gewesen, sie zum öffentlichen Zeigen monarchistischer Symbole oder von Bildern Reza Pahlavis zu bewegen. Solche Praktiken erinnern viele Beobachter an autoritäre Verhaltensmuster, die mit demokratischen Grundsätzen unvereinbar sind.
Dass die Anhänger Pahlavis ihre Einschüchterungs- und Druckkampagnen nun offenbar auch gegen Medien richten, stellt nach Auffassung vieler Iranerinnen und Iraner eine neue Eskalationsstufe dar. Wer Journalisten angreift, kritische Berichterstattung delegitimiert oder versucht, Medien durch öffentlichen Druck einzuschüchtern, greift letztlich die Grundlagen einer offenen und demokratischen Gesellschaft an. Der Versuch, kritische Stimmen zum Schweigen zu bringen, überschreitet eine rote Linie und darf weder verharmlost noch ignoriert werden.
Viele Iraner in der Diaspora erwarten daher von dem #Reza_Asghari (MdB/CDU), der sich wiederholt öffentlich hinter diese Bewegung gestellt hat, eine klare Stellungnahme. Sie fordern eine Erklärung dazu, wie seine Unterstützung mit den dokumentierten Vorwürfen von Einschüchterung, Intoleranz und demokratiefeindlichem Verhalten vereinbar sein soll.
