SHOCKING AND UNACCEPTABLE — JUSTICE FOR CHALJANG

The Kangpokpi SP must be held directly accountable for the orders reportedly given to Central Forces stationed at Makui Kacchha Nagas village to open fire on Kuki villagers of Chaljang.

From around 4:45 PM today, Chaljang Kuki Village came under attack, with Kacchha Naga armed elements reportedly operating with the assistance of Central Forces.

If security forces are being used against the very civilians they are duty-bound to protect, this is an extremely grave abuse of authority that cannot be allowed to pass without a full investigation.

What was the Kangpokpi SP's role?
Who gave the order to open fire?
Why were Central Forces allegedly allowed to assist an armed attack on Chaljang?
Who coordinated the operation?
Why were the civilians of Chaljang not protected?

The Government of Manipur, Government of India and competent investigating authorities must immediately investigate the entire chain of command, communications, orders and actions of every official and armed person involved.

If the investigation establishes that the Kangpokpi SP participated in, authorised, facilitated or knowingly enabled attacks on Kuki civilians, he must face immediate suspension and appropriate legal and departmental proceedings.

There must be no selective justice, no cover-up and no double standard.

Chaljang is a civilian village. Its people have the right to live without armed attacks. Security forces must protect civilians—not assist those attacking them.

INVESTIGATE THE KANGPOKPI SP.
EXPOSE THE CHAIN OF COMMAND.
PROTECT CHALJANG CIVILIANS.
ACCOUNTABILITY MUST FOLLOW THE EVIDENCE.

The Kangpokpi district administration identifies the SP as responsible for coordinating law-and-order functions with the Deputy Commissioner.

🚨 THIS FOOTAGE DEMANDS IMMEDIATE SECURITY INVESTIGATION

The circulating video, reportedly showing armed movement and alleged reinforcement involving NSCN-IM, ZUF-Kamson and other armed elements, raises serious concerns for the safety of Kuki-Zo civilians and vulnerable villages.

This footage must not be ignored. The authorities should immediately authenticate it, establish when and where it was recorded, identify the armed personnel, determine their affiliation and trace their movement. Any allegation of reinforcement from Myanmar should also be independently verified through proper intelligence and border-security channels.

Particular attention is required along the IT Road and vulnerable areas of Kangpokpi, Noney, Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Kamjong and Senapati. If the movement is found to be connected with preparations for attacks on civilian settlements, homes or essential routes, preventive security measures and appropriate legal action must follow.

CoBRA teams, Central Forces, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police must coordinate and investigate thoroughly before another civilian attack takes place.

This is not a matter to be dismissed as ordinary social-media content. Human lives and entire villages could be at risk.

AUTHENTICATE THE FOOTAGE.
TRACE THE MOVEMENT.
IDENTIFY THE ARMED ELEMENTS.
PROTECT THE CIVILIANS.
INVESTIGATE BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.
HOLD THOSE RESPONSIBLE ACCOUNTABLE UNDER LAW.
