The School of Psychology at Cardiff University is looking for volunteers to aid them in a new research project📚
All of what they do is with the hope of providing better understanding and treatment options for those living with Hoarding Disorder / Behaviour in years to come🙌🏼
We've just said goodbye to an amazing person who's heading overseas where euthanasia is legal. They're chronically unwell & exhausted due to local authority neglect managing their care needs, incl. practical decluttering help. @UKParliament@lbhf are you paying attention now?
I haven’t yet watched #Panorama - ADHD Clinics Exposed, so will make a more informed comment when I have done so.
I am, however, initially very concerned about the impact this is already having on the #ADHD community in the UK.
If we are fortunate enough to be able to find the resources, many of us HAVE NO CHOICE but to seek a private diagnosis, given the long waiting times on the NHS.
The majority of diagnostic clinicians for ADHD are incredibly thorough, knowledgeable and careful. Many have worked or still work for the NHS doing exactly the same job, and they do not carry out a different assessment process.
The ADHD Collective sincerely hopes this type of reporting does not add to the stigma of ADHD as a made-up, excuse-based, or insignificant condition - but early responses to the programme are worrying.
We wish more reporting time could be spent highlighting the reality of life with ADHD, furthering it's acceptance in society, and helping those who struggle with this serious, life-long, neurodevelopmental condition on a daily basis.
In the meantime:
YOUR STRUGGLES ARE VALID AND AREN’T YOUR FAULT
ADHD is real and highly stigmatised. Let’s all stick together when under ‘attack’ like this. WE WILL beat stigma and as we do so, there will be inevitable backlashes.

*Be wary of tonight's BBC Panorama programme* about investigations by an undercover journalist into private clinics that assess/diagnose ADHD. Vulnerable people are often failed by NHS mental health professionals with inadequate understanding of Neurodivergent conditions #ADHD
You’re around nine times more likely to die in a fire in your home if there are no working smoke alarms.
Having at least one on every floor of your home could help save you and your family.

@SurreyFRS Love you Phil! It was a great pleasure meeting you last year when we delivered hoarding awareness training to the Prevention and Fire Investigation teams at @SurreyFRS
@Stevenson3L Be prepared to interview quite a few Neurodivergent individuals (diagnosed and undiagnosed) who have experienced trauma at some point in their lives
It's hot out there!
The water can still be very cold and can lead to cold water shock and drowning.

If someone is in trouble in water call 999.

Well done @_OliviaBlake MP for speaking about her pre-ADHD diagnosis experiences as a child, & how they affected her mental health. More recognition of, training about & practical support for people with Neurodevelopmental conditions should be compulsory in schools #Neurodiverse
Conditions like ADHD, Dyslexia, Autism and Dyspraxia are inherited Neurodevelopmental conditions. In order to support children with these diagnoses or who have mental health problems, Governments MUST also provide adequate and timely support to the parents too.
