A group of Tory MPs including Liz Truss and Jacob Rees-Mogg have called for scrapping the 2050 net zero target to be part of the Conservative Party manifesto to avoid electoral “oblivion”. A 5 point pledge card says that by scrapping the 2050 target, the Tories would “bring accountability to environmental policy in order to build more homes, reduce taxes and make business more competitive”.
