Reminder: Get out of tech. Talk to people with jobs that need no computers. Real estate, baristas, sales, admin, music teachers. Grunt work.
Two things will happen -
1. You'll appreciate your work environment more.
2. You'll learn you need to regulate your nervous system for the world is not on fire really.
This "time is passing" is a monoculture in tech. Everyone here is moving at the pace rest of the world is moving, just more anxiously. Look at the last 5 years of your life and see if you would have got to this day anyway without stressing out as much as you did then. I feel like an idiot some days.
Mindless phone usage is the greatest hinderance to actualisation.
phones re-direct thought, blocking you from setting a deep intention and riding the wave of following thoughts, that comes inspire oneself to take action and gain momentum in a pursuit.
These black mirrors constantly show you new hyper-stimuli and create multiple layers of grand thought and sub thought in your unconscious mind, further clouding awareness.
Sucking one’s attention deeper and deeper into semantics and drama of egos, leading one astray from the path of actualising your full potential.
put the phone down and be intentional with your life.
Was pondering this yesterday. Someone mentioned staring out of windows during long car trips. There are modes of contemplation that are being lost because the phone is ever-present. The capacity for boredom, the ability to daydream your way into an idea. Whole ways of being.
Every single night before my 2.5 year old brushes his teeth, I make him recite the Lee family mantra:
1/ I'm brave
2/ I'm tough
3/ I can do anything if I work hard at it
I believe in the power of affirmations and I see the confidence it builds in him.
When he was scared to climb a ladder at the park, I heard him muttering the mantra under his breath before he made the leap and got to the top.
Create a family mantra for your own kids. I highly recommend it!
I think the highest form of spirituality is simply learning how to live your life. Not escaping into altered states, collecting initiations, memorizing scriptures, or trying to become something other than what you already are. All of those things do have their place along the way, but eventually they have to lead you back here. Back to making breakfast, taking care of your body, doing your work, loving the people around you, and paying attention to what is directly in front of you. The point of the path isn’t to take you out of life, it’s to teach you how to be completely inside it.
The point of practice isn’t to spend your entire life practicing. It’s to become so completely present that the division between practice and life disappears. You stop looking for the sacred somewhere else because you realize there is nowhere else for it to be. Washing dishes is it. Training is it. Sitting quietly with someone you love is it. Growing old is it. Even boredom, grief, and uncertainty are part of it. Eventually you put down all the methods and explanations and simply participate in your own existence. The highest teaching is living ordinary life completely.
@piyush_trades Population has peaked in china and urbanization rate is flat. On the other hand India is going to add 30 cr more people over next 3 decades, people are still moving from villages to cities and home ownership rate is still low.
Nah. Shang-Chi 2 where Shang-Chi gets hired as a stunt man for a new martial arts movie staring Simon Williams. A buddy cop Hollywood action film. There you go.
Why are people having fewer babies? Because fewer couples are forming
Why are fewer couples forming? Because love is now the minimum threshold for longterm relationships
The problem is that love is rare. It always has been
So we need to talk about love

You are in the small minority of men who have mental agency and there is hope for you. Accurately appraising the importance of things according to their ontological weight is literally a superpower.
The vast majority of people have a skewed perception of reality because the value and importance they place on things is distorted heavily. Consider all that could be done for the glory of God, the betterment of your own life and the lives of others, and then consider where watching porn should be on that list, in priority order.
Same with video games, doomscrolling, other simulacrum.
There are literally billions of other things that should be done before these black hole activities. So why doesn't everyone just do those? Because humanity is distorted; this is sin. We do not value things as God values them.
With God's help and a lot of effort you can adjust this distorted perception temporarily, but the signal will always be a fuzzy and imperfect version of reality. This is why daily prayer and thoughtfulness are such an important part of the bible and every religion. Without God we revert to the mean.
The implications go far beyond porn and videogames. Daily life, work, how you understand basic mechanisms and how you structure your thoughts. What you dream about, how happy you are, your own perception of yourself and how others see you.
By avoiding banal, common temptations like porn, time wasters like videogames, etc you begin to live your own life. Away from the vine, you wither and die. Washed in the blood of the Lamb you live and bear fruit.
There is a three year old somewhere right now squatting in a cold puddle with mud up his forearms and snot running into his mouth, screaming at nothing. he will bite his sister in twenty minutes and cry for an hour after because she bit him back. he will lose his favourite toy in some wet grass and grieve it like a death. by nighttime he will have lived more honestly than most grown men manage in thirty years. and somewhere in a clean room with expensive candles and a view of some mountain, a grown adult who paid four thousand to sit on a cushion for a week is begging his own nervous system to produce what that kid got for free by falling face first into a thorn bush
