In their northeast tour in 2009, Hoboe had an unlikely gig at a small folk coffee house on the New Jersey side of Philadelphia.

Gordon Waller of Peter & Gordon would have turned 77 today. This song they recorded, which has oboe (!), peaked at 16 on the Hot Billboard charts in 1964. Happy heavenly birthday Gordon!

Released this month in 1972, this song features Roxy Music oboist/saxophonist Andy Mackay doing really cool and early innovative synthetized woodwind effects, mostly on saxophone, but we R pretty sure we can hear oboe being phased or flanged in there, too.
