The terms “rational” and “irrational” are often weaponized, but a clear distinction between the two lies in self-awareness.
Rational individuals recognize that emotions shape their thoughts. They strive, through introspection, to temper these influences and make measured decisions.
Irrational people, are unaware of their emotional biases, act impulsively, and are blind to potential consequences.
The key difference is awareness: rational minds acknowledge their flaws and stay vigilant, while irrational ones grow defensive, and are unable to reflect or learn from mistakes.
Have a good hard look at yourself: Are you aware of your emotional biases? Do you act impulsively? Do you think ahead to the potential consequences?
You might think our advanced society has outgrown human nature’s primitive roots. But I think we are actually more tangled in our primitive feelings than ever.
Social media amplifies our emotions, fueling viral trends and manipulation by cunning leaders, the media and even our friends and family.
Online aggression is flourishing without consequence, and seems to be spilling into the real world.
Tribalism is thriving in our individual algorithmic echo chambers, vilifying everyone that doesn’t agree with “us”.
We are so busy looking for how “they” are wrong that we barely look at how “we” are wrong as well.
You look at them and how crazy they are. Let’s not continue to turn a blind eye to the crazy on our side as well.
This is how we have been divided: “Us” vs “Them”
It is only through a long hard look at the crazy on our side that we can break free, because only looking at “them” will just add fuel the fire. 🔥
@rAndOmHaMlifE@TeslaBoomerMama There are some states that have chemical castration. I am not saying that I disagree with them but it is a medical procedure that is imposed on someone.
“What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other?” — George Eliot
I have to admit I have purposely made life difficult for people. Every time, I felt it was warranted. In hindsight it was sometimes just me being petty. I want to be less petty.
Using a smart phone is basically like stepping into another place or room.
You slightly loose track of where you exist in the physical world and who you are “with”.
Would you walk out on the people you are with, if not, don’t use your phone either.
@lohithdhaksha If I specifically sit down to study I may take notes, and I might write something down after hearing it, but I don’t do either of these things a lot.
