Just found out a friend of mine is divorcing his wife, who has stage 3 breast cancer. She didn't do anything awful. He said he had just grown apart from her.

He is no longer my friend, and I clearly misjudged him as a man. She has always been kind to me. I'm going to see if she needs anything because he can't be a man. Shameful. Am I being harsh? Did I break the bro code? No, you simply don't divorce your wife while she is in cancer treatment because you can't handle it.

Just a simple reminder today that Medicare thinks physician work is 30% less valuable today than it was in 2001.

Despite asking us to see more patients, click more buttons and fill out more paperwork, we deserve to be reimbursed 30% less than we did 23 years ago.

If you're considering a career in healthcare, what would you do if the US government considers your expertise to be devaluing at that rate?

Medical students recognize this, which is why a recent survey found that over 60% don't plan on practicing clinical medicine. They want to pursue consulting or public health careers instead.

I don't blame them. If you held any asset that was depreciating at that rate, you'd invest that capital elsewhere.

We will never fix the physician fee schedule, though. Our only hope is to even the playing field. We must fight for site neutrality and allowing physician owned hospitals. We must reform 340B. We must fight certificate of need laws.

Lets put delivery of healthcare in the hands of physicians.
