Twenty years ago there were two cricket teams in my English village.
Today there are none, and the guys in the pub on the square probably couldnβt name a single England cricketer.
Sky killed English cricket β full stop.
Paid esports social role π¨
Putting the feelers out for a social media freelancer for a weeks work in July. Remote but potentially travel required to Europe (covered).
Gotta know Apex Legends esports.
Anthony Joshua vs Kristian Prenga fight for July is being moved from Riyadh to Jeddah. Some outlets are speculating it's being moved in connection to the Esports World Cup's move and the concerns about the ongoing conflict.
If you've never worked for a startup and watched when the investor money dried up and what happened next, you will never understand what this tweet actually means in the context of what is happening now with AI. Everyone who fell for this got played.
This is why I say they are desperate for you to forget that you're capable of writing for yourself. They are going to sow doubt about the achievements of anyone who threatens them. They want you to believe it's impossible to write an essay.
I mean... Being a fan for the other teams gave them free seats and flights in 2025? They literally flew them out and put them up in hotels.
Like there's a lot of ways to own Falcons fans, but pot kettle black. And I don't think those super-fan stipends are coming this year...
LeaguesGG owe me 4 digits for work that I did earlier this year.
Not only will I NEVER see this money, but because they have liquidated their company, their VAT is now deleted, so I have to pay tax for them too.
I hope none of you touches esports ever again.
I don't the paywalls made things shitty. I think the fact the few websites that could afford to live without paywalls captured the entire internet, told everyone it was free, then realise they couldn't make anymore money.
The paywalls, on many things, arguably, needed to be here from the start. One of the things that has killed more internet endeavours than any other has been failing to figure out how to cover the costs.
Everyone is quick to forget one of the factors that led to the enshitification of the internet was everything slowly getting moved behind paywalls, you're out of your mind if you think paying a subscription for a search engine is reasonable
The thing is, traditional media had paywalls all along. Newspapers cost money, but are subsidized by ads. TV either had subscriptions or state backing. Every service and function costs money or is subsidized.
