For 12 years, @wada_ama and #IOC have failed to meaningfully address or deter Russian state-sponsored doping that has corrupted the @Olympics. WADA must be restructured under new leadership. Global anti-doping cannot work when WADA is controlled by the IOC
@GlobalAthleteHQ
"Russia's doping program and political assassination program not only share personnel—they also share a physical address"
@rusada "is deeply connected to the very security organs responsible for Russia's doping governance [and] chemical weapons governance"

Today's revelations by @InsiderEng show that little has changed in Russia since @Sochi2014. Russian "anti-doping" is still an arm of the state and tool of foreign policy. Russia must be fully banned from int'l sport as long as the state manipulates competition for political ends
“As far as the IOC concerns, they just want to expand their reach as far as possible seemingly unconcerned about the broader consequences of the Olympic Games in geopolitics and the way the Olympics are used as a tool of these authoritarian regimes” @hoffnoahman with @CBCNews
I'm proud to be part of the @GlobalAthleteHQ team, fighting to hold administrators accountable to athletes. Abuse in sport, from the individual athlete level to the geopolitical level, persists because those wielding power lack accountability. Empowering athletes is the solution.
2022 End of Year Message. A year defined by the rebel yell of athletes & athlete advocates everywhere:
"HUMAN RIGHTS ARE ATHLETE RIGHTS"

Today, @GlobalAthleteHQ released the statement below, calling for a continuation of the ban on Russian and Belarussian athletes from international sport. We do not take this position lightly. (1/4)

Russia uses international sport as a geopolitical tool. If they are welcomed back by @iocmedia and the international federations, they will once again use sport to distract from the war, bolster their international standing, and advance their domestic agenda. (3/4)
By excluding women from an event because there isn't a long history of women's competition, the IOC is using their past discrimination to justify future discrimination. Men's Nordic combined has been an Olympic event since 1924. 2026 marks 102 years of gender discrimination (6/6)
In 2026, @iocmedia will once again exclude women from an Olympic event. Nine medals will be awarded to men in three Nordic combined races at @milanocortina26. There will be no Nordic combined races for women. That is despicable. (1/6)
The IOC seems to view gender equity as a problem to be remedied over decades, as if women can afford to wait a few Olympics for a chance to compete. But women who are denied a chance in 2026 will never have that chance back, even if there is gender equity at the 2030 Games. (5/6)
Finally, athletes — especially those with the biggest platforms — must speak up to demand that Russian administrators be subject to the same measures as Russian athletes. This issue is a microcosm of the way human costs are distributed in the Olympic movement as a whole.
57 days of Russian bloodshed in Ukraine and Yelena Isinbayeva is still an IOC Member. In 2020 she helped rewrite Russia's constitution to allow Putin to remain in power. By doing so she helped facilitate this war. And yet she continues to hold an IOC leadership position.
Other stakeholders including @NBCOlympics, @TeamUSA, @Paris2024, @milanocortina26, and @LA28 must also demand the removal of Russian IOC Members. Broadcasters, NOCs, and host cities have leverage over the IOC and a responsibility to hold the IOC accountable.
