🏊‍♂️ 150 years ago today, after nearly 22 hours, at 10:41 am on 25 August 1875, Captain Matthew Webb landed near Calais becoming the 1st person to swim The English Channel. He inspired me to make 3 crossings in 2007, 2008 and 2010. Thank you Sir 🙏

At 06:49 Hrs. on Tuesday July 10, 2007, I stepped into the frigid waters of The English Channel at Samphire Hoe near Dover, to set off on a journey I had first planned some 27 years earlier. The aim was to become one of the few people in history to swim the "Mount Everest" of swims - The English Channel.

This was a swim I had trained my entire life for, but the secret to achieving success, the philosophy of achieving your goals, had only been given to me a few weeks previously by none other than the then "Queen of The Channel" Alison Streeter.

The advice she gave me that day, has helped not only me, but many people I have coached since, to achieve their goals.

📖 It was such simple advice, but so extremely effective, I felt it important to document, so with the help of Kyle Wilson, I included it in a book Kyle was releasing which became an International #1 Bestseller:

📺 On board the pilot boat that day, and on a smaller boat which circled around me all day, was a film crew from "Dangerous Films Ltd" filming a TV documentary for the Discovery Channel called "Human Body: Pushing the Limits". The documentary was nominated for a Emmy at the 60th annual Academy of Television Arts & Sciences awards in 2008, only losing out to "Battlestar Galactica":

At 20:41 Hrs. on July 10, 2007, 13 hours and 52 minutes after I left England, I stepped ashore in Wissant, France, to become only the 853rd person in history to swim The English Channel, raising over £16,500 for two local Bury St Edmunds charities.

I couldn't have done it without my amazing crew, especially Beccy who didn't take her eyes off me all day. But especially, I could not have done it without knowing this simple, life changing philosophy.
