I’m seeing a lot of condemnation by the media for what’s happening to AT and the Mercury players…which there should be.
But many of those same media members have contributed to the harm inflicted upon them in how they’ve chosen to cover this situation.
Angel Reese is currently averaging 15 PPG, 12 RPG, and 3 APG this season.
She’s doin all of that while playing out of position and getting the hell beat out of her game after game with little to no whistle.
Caitlin Clark become famous because a black girl from Maryland waved her hand in her face and racist white people got angry so they decided they were going to use her as a proxy to humble and degrade black women and put them in their rightful place
The conversation around Clark can never be normal because unlike most athletes (LeBron, Curry, Kobe) her rise to fame has little to do with on court performance. Her elevation was built on a faulty foundation of white grievance and misogynoir. That’s not sustainable
I find it hard to believe that AT would just lie about Cathy communicating especially when there’s a paper trail. You can easily pull up a text. There’s more to this.
These threats have gone on for years and that’s why, as much as I want to ignore the mob, we can’t disengage.
@CathyEngelbert is complicit.
A real commissioner would do something about this before accountability arrives in ways they’d rather it wouldn’t.
"Just the whole narrative that's being painted out there... it's unfortunate that it's come to this over basketball."
Alyssa Thomas discusses what the last week has been like for her.
What was once a landfill is now one of the fastest-growing neighborhoods in the country.
Mayor Lucas today revealed expansion renderings for CPKC Stadium, bringing construction jobs, new residents, expanded trails, and more access to the riverfront for all Kansas Citians.
Teams are worth record amounts, players received life-changing contracts they earned, and the league’s popularity is at an all-time high.
But time and time again we’re faced with the reality that Cathy Engelbert lacks the people skills to run this league.
From failing to condemn racism and hate speech until it was too late, taking the first Native-American owned sports team and giving it to one of Trump’s cronies for cheap, and mispronouncing Natalie Nakase’s name when awarding her COTY, the proof is in the pudding.
Today, KC Current presented expansion plans for CPKC Stadium to the KCMO City Council.
As demand for KC Current matches, events and riverfront development continues to grow, outpacing even our initial high expectations, so does the need to expand and improve infrastructure around the stadium - including increased stadium capacity to 18,000; a dedicated transient parking garage; and core riverfront infrastructure that will better serve fans, residents, families and the broader KC community.
What stands today as CPKC Stadium on the riverfront is more than a stadium. It is proof of what KC can accomplish when a community comes together around bold ideas and a shared vision for the future.
We cannot wait to build the next chapter together 🙌
