this was probably the biggest revelation of the chapter. we learn that if multiple princes survive the voyage, the entire royal family gets stripped of their status and dethroned. so the peaceful princes’ strategies would’ve never worked #hxh411
@perefalcock you literally misread the context of your own quote. that line was kura agreeing that yes, a change of government is inevitable without nen. if they hit the deadline and draw, the supernatural contract breaks and that power is completely gone. go read the panels again
@perefalcock you just proved my point 😭😭"without this, it would be inevitable" means that without the massive nen power fuelling them, the royal family’s collapse is a total certainty
@perefalcock if a draw just meant losing their nen beasts but getting to keep their status, there would be no risk, and the contract would have absolutely zero power. the contract FORCES the high stakes
the fact that kurapika and tserriednich’s first ever meeting could potentially be in a courtroom is crazy. it’s such a bizarre setting for a confrontation with that much dark history, but the tension would be insane #hxh411
@Mohadius the only peaceful princes I see are the younger ones who would probably gladly give up their titles just to survive. but zhang lei and tubeppa have different goals. even halkenburg the ultimate pacifist turned to violence. they aren't just going to let the family get dethroned
#hxhspoilers
one of the phases being to gather the bodies of your own kin that died further highlights the brutality of the kakin empire with its sheer disregard to life. even if a kind-hearted prince was the sole survivor, they'd have one last cruelty to enact
@beAllendAll_ at first, I thought she looked like someone whose secret was just discovered. but since this was probably the first time she was hearing it alongside kurapika’s students, I think she was just blindsided
I think the reason woble isn’t eligible for the sw is pretty simple. phase 1 of the ritual requires a dedicated prayer. to make a nen vow, the participant needs to have conscious resolve. a literal baby can’t understand national prosperity or give psychological intent #hxh411
@sukuna_nextch thats pretty interesting, but if the target just moves to oito, it doesn't really help kurapika protect the room. it still leaves them in immediate danger. why would kurapika want the assassination attempts redirected at her instead?
@morksenposting I want to believe that so bad 😭😭 but he’s old enough to speak and can grasp basic ideas right? also, his gsb already fully manifested earlier in the arc, which basically proves his ritual went through successfully 💔💔💔
kurapika noted that just having one halkenburg’s guards in the room “produced the right amount of tension”, and losing that presence destabilized the room. just like how halkenburg was a deterrent to the top princes and hope for the lower ones. the subtext here is just incredible
doesn’t the mindset of the guards in the room reflect the ideologies of their respective princes lol? for example, furykov is concerned with the power balance in the room. I feel like that mirror’s benjamin’s own hierarchical worldview where he solely holds the power #hxh411
and zhang lei’s guard tenftory hoping he stops sending more guards because he doesn't want potential professional rivals to gain the nen 😭
again, this mirrors zhang lei’s capitalist/transactional nature and how he views the entire sw like a business
