@_jsolly@Madisonkanna Personally I think it’s good to have a long term goals as it shows you’re thoughtful about the future.
But, there definitely exists people that are genuinely good people who don’t necessarily think that far ahead. Especially so when you’re junior and still figuring things out.
@nat_snacks $42/mo is kind of pushing it for me.
I’d consider it cause it saves me a lot of time.
But, I’m not sure if it saves enough of my time to make it worthwhile. I’d have to see just how much I can fully utilize it first since it’s still new to my workflow.
@amandamcodes Oh, and I was okay in the end.
Had temporary amnesia and forgot my name/identity/stuff for 1-2 hours, but, otherwise was able to take a flight home the next day.
@amandamcodes I agree, it’s scary. No matter how careful you are, sometimes you just can’t avoid stupid people.
Something similar happened to me during an internship years back, even made the news:

@EngineeringLynn Wow.
Just wow.
I’ll make sure not to buy the dictionary he’s been working on 🙂.
On a side note, congrats and excellent job on the article.
@_ncrypt_ @tron It’s definitely not one size fits all.
You can have 10 hour long days. For those that fatigue more easily can be issue.
Might make it harder to do things during the weekdays after work. This potentially poses issues for parents.
But, I do love embracing the optionality of it.
@catmcgee I think it was intended to be a currency. But, in actuality from what is observed so far, too volatile to be a currency. Between the two choices, it’s closer to a store of value based on how people have treated it. It also had a third use case of being an index/benchmark/marker.
@SarahxCodes Lost my job during the pandemic, though, it was a high paying one, my industry was in decline since the 90s so the outlook wasn’t too good. If I wanted something equivalent I’d have to leave the country. But, truthfully wanted to go into tech years before, was good timing for me.
@CodeNewbies Joined Juno College in midst of a pandemic.
Went in for knowledge. Got knowledge. Also came out with excellent career coaching, buddies, and a great portfolio.
Having people to share experiences and bounce ideas off really helped. Passed 5 round interview, now full-time dev.
@taliyaio@heatherpayne@junocollege At a glance, it can be pretty enticing. This was certainly one of the things on my mind when I was deciding.
But, obviously there’s the trade-off with being able to thoroughly teach subjects. I think people just need to be aware of how highly sought after FE skills are.
