How can a team thatโs:
- Qualified for the UCL 16 seasons in a row
- Won the league 6 times in a 7 season period
- Got one of the best academies in the world
โฆable to spend any money? Where is it coming from? ๐
Private firms providing services to the NHS made ยฃ1.6 billion profit in two years.
Thatโs ยฃ1.6 billion being extracted from the NHS for shareholders rather than patients.
We think the NHS should be about people, not profit.
But what do you think?

Probably because in 2010s a group of clubs put in place self serving rules that meant even where a club qualified into the CL, won the EL and then qualified again into the CL (all with a wage bill 30% off the top teams) itโs still forced to sell their best player to the Champions
If people genuinely believe Burnham wonโt receive the exact same media onslaught, theyโve not been paying attention.
Starmer is not, objectively, bad. This idea that he is somehow the worst PM in British history is frankly laughable.
Liz truss lasted 49 days, crashed the pound and was laughed out of Downing Street.
Since Labour took office, Keir Starmerโs government has:
โข Scrapped the two-child benefit limit, lifting hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty and putting money back into some of the hardest-pressed households in the country.
โข Expanded free school meals, cutting costs for families and making sure more children get a proper meal during the school day.
โข Expanded funded childcare, reducing one of the biggest monthly costs facing working parents and making it easier for people to stay in work.
โข Raised the National Living Wage, increasing pay for millions of low-paid workers.
โข Strengthened workersโ rights, giving people greater protection against insecure work and bad employers.
โข Introduced statutory sick pay from the first day of illness, so workers are less likely to choose between their health and their wages.
โข Ended no-fault evictions, giving renters more security in their homes.
โข Brought rail operators back into public ownership, taking key services out of failed private hands and giving the public a stronger stake in how they are run.
โข Cut NHS waiting lists from their post-pandemic peak, meaning more patients are being seen sooner.
โข Raised the state pension through the triple lock, protecting pensionersโ incomes against rising costs.
โข Scrapped the old non-dom tax regime, making some of the wealthiest people in the country pay more fairly.
โข Added VAT to private school fees, raising money from those most able to contribute.
โข Removed business rates relief from private schools, ending an unjustified tax break.
โข Increased neighbourhood policing, putting more officers and PCSOs back into communities.
โข Helped bring knife crime down, meaning fewer families face the devastation of serious violence.
โข Recorded the lowest homicide rate since the 1970s, a material improvement in public safety.
โข Created Great British Energy, giving Britain a publicly owned clean energy company.
โข Created the National Wealth Fund, backing investment in industry, infrastructure and clean energy.
โข Passed planning reforms aimed at getting homes and major projects built faster.
โข Improved relations with the EU, reducing diplomatic hostility and rebuilding practical cooperation.
โข Agreed a UK-EU security partnership, strengthening cooperation on defence and European security.
โข Signed a long-term partnership with Ukraine, reinforcing Britainโs support against Putinโs invasion.
โข Secured new trade agreements, opening up markets for British businesses.
โข Helped restore seriousness to government after years of scandal, chaos and decline.
People do not have to like Starmer. They do not have to vote Labour. But pretending this is the record of the worst Prime Minister in British history is absurd.

@Matt_Law_DT@sankul_pandey Like Pogba to United for a world record fee? Like Rice to Arsenal, Caicedo to Chelsea, Enzo to Chelsea but it becomes an issue for the market when city do it. ๐
Who would be the most expensive player in Premier League history adjusting for football inflation (increase in total revenue for the PL per season)? It has to be the greatest goalscorer...the one and only @alanshearer at an inflation adjusted ยฃ223.3m when signing for Newcastle. He also appears at ยฃ100.2m when signing for Blackburn. @rioferdy5 appears twice in the top dozen signings

2.28 - Over his 379 Premier League games with Manchester City, Pep Guardiola has averaged 2.28 points-per-game - the highest of any manager with 20+ matches in the competition's history. Greatest.
Pep Guardiolaโs era is coming to an end. How did he perform over 9 seasons, judged on squad cost? (excl. 2025/26 no data yet)
The Pep era in one chart.
Man City: the highest squad cost in the league and they sit above the line, meaning they overdelivered even on that spend. Most expensive squad AND best value.
Man Utd: spent just as big. Landed 25 performance points lower. ๐
Over 9 seasons and a trophy haul nobodyโs matched, Pep sits comfortably above the average line.
