💧 Introducing… River of the Month! 📅
Every month, we’ll be spotlighting a different river, sharing its wonders, its challenges, and the incredible people fighting to protect it.
First up: The River Mole.
🧵(1/8)
April pollution tests for River Mole shows expected rise in pollutant concentration due to low river flow as March+April had just 33% of rainfall in catchment. Plus 2 years of data reveals characteristic contaminant fingerprints unique to each water body! https://t.co/wZPU333VtE
History will not be kind to our Labour Govt. And I think neither will voters at the next GE.
This is such a stupid statement from Reeves. It is *exactly* the sort of environmentally ignorant attitude that has brought us to this point in our #ClimateCrisis.
🚨 BREAKING - Chris Packham joins Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall in the road as Strand remains occupied.
Over 1,000 people have joined together to hold an Exhibition of political prisoners, in support of the ‘Lord’ Walney 16 who are undergoing a mass appeal in the Royal Courts.
Events are underway at the Royal Courts of Justice today for the first of our #FreePoliticalPrisoners two days of solidarity outside the appeal of the ‘Lord’ Walney 16.
Peaceful activists should not be imprisoned for nonviolent action in a democracy.

River Mole River Watch heralded in Parliament yesterday by MP @helenemaguire thank you for your advocating for the Mole and your super-supportive speech for our work: "environmental champions" .."extraordinary work" 😊 https://t.co/HNLtByM9y7
This is it: we are on the brink of stopping new oil and gas drilling for good. The government has paused approving new fields while it asks the public, what we think should happen. The gov stands on the side of people over oil and gas bosses. Sign here: https://t.co/lPr5QRUTfy
Widespread calls for the compromised Lord Walney, who takes money from oil & arms while advising the government against peaceful climate and anti-genocide activists, to resign!

We should be a world leader in tackling the nature and climate emergency , instead , we're a world leader in arresting those brave individuals who are sounding the alarm . . .

For too long fossil fuel companies have had largely unlimited £££ to greenwash their dirty reputations whilst continuing to wreak havoc with our planet – it’s time for that to end .

Shell is suing Greenpeace for millions of dollars because of a peaceful climate protest. If Shell wins it could harm our right to protest and the fight against the climate crisis.
Please can you email the CEO of Shell to call on him to drop the lawsuit? https://t.co/gmh0H0G4Jb
We’ve received further information about the condition of The Harlequin Theatre, Redhill, including indicative costs. The intrusive survey to investigate the RAAC shows that almost every panel tested has been classified as ‘red’, which is a critical risk.

A lovely friend (father of 3) was arrested today. His conscientious protest is about the continued search for new fossil fuels and the industries which enable this. I applaud his, and others, actions today. @xrdorking @XRebellionUK
We've asked Surrey County Council to stop the sale of oil unlawfully extracted from Horse Hill.
UKOG extracted tonnes of oil unlawfully. If burned, this oil could produce almost 1,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases. They should not profit from climate crime!

How confusing social media is at this moment! I too am moving off X. I now have a presence on Bluesky under @hollycorner and yet my Instagram and Threads is deneholy; a handle chosen in a hurry when I kept having my Instagram account stolen!
Congratulations @MadamPratolungo We are grateful to Sarah for bringing the Horse Hill case on our behalf – and incredibly proud of our campaign which has changed the tide on UK fossil fuel developments. Sarah is one of thousands of dedicated campaigners worldwide.
