How can anyone take a position on Alberta separatism without knowing exactly what it means?

Under the hypothetical new country, what would the taxes be? Can we eliminate income taxes for the middle class? How does the border work with Canada and the United States? Can we fix healthcare while we are at it? Can we stop inflation with a new gold based dollar?

How can anyone say staying in Canada is better or worse without knowing the alternative?

I often get asked when I think AI will replace pilots. My answer is many decisions in aircraft are highly contextual and where feelings and “trusting your gut” matters.

My prediction is fully pilotless aircraft will not have success until software can understand the full context of a situation. And the ability to sense this context is a very complex hardware problem, not a software one. Much more complex than even Tesla’s FSD.

Exceptions to this are simple drone missions with repetition and highly simplified flights where context doesnt matter even in emergencies.

@bscholl Disagree. In the same way you dont want the public to track where you drive, I dont want the public tracking where I fly. It has merits only if the privacy/public aircraft ID issues are resolved.

@pmarca talks on @lexfridman about various countries losing their smartest people to the US as these people chase better opportunities via the L1 visa program. These countries are then seriously impeded in their ability to innovate and grow.

Trump keeps talking about making Canada a state. If Canada pushes back on this, Trump could easily drop the work visa and ITAR restrictions holding many smart Canadians back.

Wealthy and successful Canadians already spend 180 days a year in the US as snowbirds. Imagine if they were given the opportunity to bring their businesses down too.

Canada’s growth and tax revenue could be in deep trouble if they push back against Trump.
