@TheStalwart@provisionalidea How could it possibly follow from the fact that SF is economically dynamic that SF has good land use policy? Does it also follow that, because the US as a whole is economically dynamic, the US has good policy regulating maritime shipping (i.e., that the jones act is fine)?
The Senate housing bill discourages build-to-rent housing in order to stop investors from having market power over housing.
But when investors (or anyone) build new homes, that gives renters the power to tell their landlord to take a hike. And the evidence suggests that even when investors buy old homes, nearby rents fall. That's the opposite of corporate market power.
When there was a tradeoff between helping renters and harming corporations, the Senate chose to harm corporations.

@AlanMCole Until you actually read Kagan’s opinion, then it becomes clear that he is (deliberately?) mischaracterizing it. Ditto for the Barrett concurrence.

Textbook prosecutorial misconduct that should result in disbarment. Walking into a GJ and attempting to obtain an indictment against sitting members of Congress WITH NO IDENTIFIED CRIMINAL STATUTE BEING VIOLATED should also be a "gate" level scandal but no one in the press cares
Sources say top aide to @GovKathyHochul, Karen Persichilli Keogh, called BOE Commissioner & former Brooklyn Dem party boss Frank Seddio to back the ballot questions, because the gov wants to build as much housing as possible
