@ardy_public some people really act like saying "this character has Trauma" is like. the peak of character analysis. like no?? what is his trauma, where does it come from, how does it manifest, how does it affect his relationships with other people, how does he cope with it???
@TinotendaH18950@RomanticR81537@oscardiedrichs@RoyIsThaTruth first of all, if you genuinely believe that, you're either delusional or lethally naive. and second, yeah, of course it's harder to kidnap a child off of school premises. do you know why?
because of the protocols like this existing.
@TinotendaH18950@RomanticR81537@oscardiedrichs@RoyIsThaTruth "what you can't control" girl. a school's pick-up protocol is literally a way to CONTROL who can and can't pick a child to lower the chance of them getting kidnapped. do you genuinely not understand how regulations work or are you pretending to be dumb for shits and giggles.
@louisoftroy there's no limit to book canon divergence i can accept because i frankly have little loyalty to the books, but the show still needs to CONVINCE me that the characters have interiority and motivations, and that their actions make sense (for them, at least)
@louisoftroy like i don't even mind that plotline as a general concept, but what was his fucking GOAL? what was he trying to achieve with that? he didn't NEED regina to get louis decapitated and tied to a chair, he could've done that all the way back in dubai if he'd wanted to
@dykearmand they didn't *just* change the races in S1-S2 though, that's the thing. lestat crashing out over the "falsehoods" in the book read very differently when the premise of the dubai interview was CORRECTING louis' uncharitable portrayal of lestat in san fran in the first place
@rockstatgroupie it's like the writers dislike armand too much to try and write him with some genuine sympathy (despite having lestat, who notably DOES feel sympathy for armand, as their POV character) but are also trying to capitalise on the complexity and poor little meow meow-ness of bookmand
@twoboyarmyy that's why i've been unable to sit down and do any sort of proper breakdown/deeper analysis of the themes and character arcs and such lmao. because i know i'd HAVE to rewatch it, and i'm so much not feeling that
@NinPotato1@bloodarsenic louis not telling him once they were back on speaking terms and in the process of reconciling is the one thing where he was fully in the wrong
@NinPotato1@bloodarsenic lestat *was* louis' abuser in that part of their relationship though. that's kinda the thesis statement of the whole show. "are we the sum of our worst moments?". their story *is* a story of love AND abuse. and pain, and grief, and trauma, the whole package.
