I still remember sending that cold email to a professor whose research interests aligned with mine.
To my surprise, he replied.
He encouraged me to apply and even told me to mention his name in my application.
I was happy 😃
I asked for an application fee waiver it wasn’t granted. I paid the $75 anyway.
Then I was asked to get my transcripts evaluated. I processed them through SPANTRAN because that was what the university’s recommended and also WES too?
I put everything together: my application, statement of purpose, academic CV, transcript evaluation, and three recommendation letters.
After submitting, I followed up with the professor again. He responded and even shared links to more of his publications.
At that point, I thought, Maybe this is it.
I have even joined VISA prep group🥲
A month later “We regret to inform you…”😭 I’ve received rejection letters before, but this one hit differently.

I cried and crode ehn😭
