FIBONACCI RETRACEMENT
Firstly, who cares about the definition we just want to know how to use it effectively. The numbers you need to know are:
- 0.5
- 0.618
- 0.705
- 0.786
- -0.5
- -0.618
The most important fib level is 0.5 as it is the "equilibrium", not the "golden pocket" (Retail mindset)
Understand that the other fib levels are not better than each other. How you should proceed to look at them is that fib levels will line up with where key liquidity areas are due to be taken.
Placing the start of the fib level from SL to SH (Down to Up) will show you support levels. Placing the start of the fib level from SH to SL (Up to Down) will show you resistance levels.
Here's the secret, sometimes you'll need to measure the swings. It will show you an untested fib level. They are just as important as they show you liquidity in that area hasn't been tapped yet.
A bit more of an advanced technique. You can use the fib levels inversely. For example: the 0.5 Fib level, which lines up with the HOB (Hidden order block), was ignored and PA left behind a FVG (Fair value gap). This area is still valid as key liquidity is yet to be taken.
There is no wick shown that has tested the fib level or the key area.
When the fib level falls just below or above a key liquidity area you can even use it as a stop loss to prevent you from losing out on a profitable trade.
