I have a friend who does that: teaches full-time at my university (with benefits including a pension) and part-time at the community college. Some years he teaches 40+ credits; he also has bowel issues that seem to be synced up with the beginning of each term. Still, from time to time he asks me why I don't also teach at the community college. I do not need blood in my stool, my friend!

I knew it was going to go like a turd in a punch bowl when Glenn described Nathan's work as "scientific racism." Even if he was reading from Wikipedia, it should be obvious to a man of Glenn's intelligence that this was not a neutral description but a value judgment. Terrible way to introduce a guest with whom you hope to have a productive conversation. I wish they had let Nathan fully formulate his thoughts--though the blame should be placed more on John than Glenn.

I have seen comparisons between this execrable athlete and Julie Moss' 1982 crawl to the finish line at Kona. That's apples and oranges. Moss was inspirational and also did not force her feces on other competitors; she soiled herself feet from the finish line. She did not go around shitting into people's wetsuits and smearing poop on competitors' bikes. This lady is just gross. Let's bring shame back.

As somebody said below, orals are common at other universities like UBA. Incorporating orals into the U.S. system would require more than just rethinking finals. For the last two years, I have given an oral final in my small ethics seminar for majors. It was logistically complicated and time-consuming. Giving an oral exam to 13 students all by myself required booking a room for 6 hours. I teach 5 courses per semester with 80-100 students across all sections. It's simply impossible for a single faculty member to give comprehensive oral exams to that many students...

@erica_d_stevens Same. I cannot fight it anymore. Rigor in person via blue book exams, quizzes, and oral exams, but the online classes are a lost cause. Good luck being idiots with a useless degree and student debt!

It's ironic that the Compassionate Karens who are now coming after the lone black juror are probably New-Jim-Crow types who cry about the exclusion of black men from juries due to their criminal records. I thought the US was a fascist dystopia for not letting letting felons vote… Meanwhile, this guy gets roasted over the coals for a dropped DV charge and owing back rent. Hasn't the DSA taught us that rent is a tool of evil capitalism and landlords are the devil?
