please teach your daughters that having a voice is more important than being nice. having a backbone is more important than being palatable. having standards is more important than being liked. and having self respect is more important than being chosen.
My problem is that I don’t think in answers, I think in delayed realizations. Ask me something personal today like "what makes me lose respect for some" etc and I’ll go blank, then three hours later, alone in my room, I’ll finally know exactly 10 perfect answers I should've given
I'll remove myself before I allow anger to consume me ever again. I like to love. I like to laugh. I like to be happy.
So if I gotta distance myself to keep things that way, I will.
Nobody talks about how hard it is to retrain your mind to accept good things after you’ve lived through so much pain and trauma. To believe that blessings are real, that genuine people exist, and that peace isn’t something you have to fight for. A softer life is possible. Let yourself receive it.
I really do have to restrain myself from doing too much for people. I naturally consider people in ways they probably never consider me. I’m a giver, and I genuinely like making people feel thought of. But that’s not everyone’s nature, and I’ve learned that expecting myself to be reciprocated only hurts my own feelings.
