#PLC & #assessment q: Teacher stated that final exams are against the #plc model because students have already shown proficiency on unit summatives so why test them again.
My argument is if a std has endurance then it's worth reassessing and expecting retention. Thoughts? #atPLC
Hot take: "self-care" is being weaponized against teachers. No amount of yoga or massages will fix the current reality. Educators need structural changes from the top, not another wellness bingo challenge.
@CliftonMeg @Mr_Rablin My solution to this as a new teacher was golf pencils. I bought a box of 300 of them for around $12. It also proved annoying enough for students to use that they started remembering to bring their own pencils because mine 'sucked' but it allowed kids who forgot to still learn.
@Mr_Rablin The snarky public mid-pandemic who said "if you don't like it, leave" are about to see the results of just that. Good admin can help retain teachers, but it's just a bandaid to the bigger systemic issues and general lack of respect of the teaching profession.
Alright, this is last call for #BrewEDU tomorrow (yes, pun intended).

Last week, students planted a seed. They were responsible for researching how much water and sun their plant needs, caring and watering it. Every day, they enter my room and go straight to look at their plant. They’ve started to sprout and wow- were they ever excited about it!
Also, if you know of any #physics teachers looking in Minnesota, my position in Shakopee needs to be filled. Seriously awesome PLC, #physicsfirst curriculum, #modphys based and implementing #SBG. Please pass it along to anyone looking for a great job!

I'm excited to share a new chapter: I will be moving to Idaho in the next few weeks. I'm honored to join @CdaSchools as an Assistant Principal at Coeur d'Alene High School. I am looking forward to building great relationships with students, families & staff! Go Vikings!
@Mr_Rablin Fun fact: Nike used to own Cole Haan, and they would use the Air insoles in the dress shoes. Nike no longer owns Cole Haan, but they may still use similar insoles and thus the comfort.
(I'm a shoe fanatic and have had Cole Haan heels as my teacher go-to since forever!)
ISO ways conceptual or scaffolded way to introduce two-object CV problems with 9th grade physics in a way that avoids ss just memorizing how to ‘plug and chug’. We do dueling buggies, but later as the numbers aren’t easy to work with for them. Ideas? #modphys#iteachphysics
